October 2007

Hi everyone! Mr. Jingeling here once again and believe it or not, I have another little story to tell!

A few days ago, Santa came to me to tell me about something the elves had become concerned about.

It seems they all began hearing the sound of doors creaking while they worked. Santa asked me to check all the doors and locks to see if they needed oiling. But I found nothing wrong.

A few more days passed and the windows began to rattle. Santa asked Tom the blacksmith and all around handyman to look at all the windows, window frames and sills to see what he could make of the noise. He found nothing wrong with anything.

A few days after that, there were all kinds of noises that we all heard.

Santa called a meeting, and everyone was there: the elves, the reindeer, Tom, Mrs. Claus, myself, well like I said everyone. And everyone started listening. The elves had their pointy little ears up against the walls, the windows, down on the floor and even up on the ceiling.

All of a sudden, everyone heard an awful noise and we froze in our tracks. A white shape came walking towards us, moaning. Mrs. Claus dropped her broom, raising a cloud of dust as she raced over and clutched Santa. The ghost like shape just kept moving towards us.

As the shape moved through the dust that Mrs. Claus made, the mysterious floating object sneezed so hard, all of its whiteness disappeared. That when we saw the white blanket fall around the feet of Jo-Jo.

Everyone got a little angry at Jo-Jo for his prank, but he reminded us that Halloween is just a few days away when all the real ghosts and goblins come out to play. He threw back on his blanket and started making ghostly sounds again. Everyone looked at each other and started to laugh.

Well, remember to be safe this Halloween and only go out with your parents or good friends. Only go to houses that have their porch lights on. Do not run and watch carefully if you have to cross streets. And share your candy with your little brothers and sisters, and do not forget to give some Mom or Dad. Sometimes we forget they are, in their hearts, kids just like you.

And remember, Santa is starting to review his list and updating all the goods and bads for this year. You still have time.

All the best,

Mr. Jingeling
